What is the best way to make a shirt tighter on the sides?
- It’s time to break out the scissors and get creative. Put the shirt on and squeeze the sides to assess how much tighter you want the shirt to be before continuing. Make a rough mark on the front and back of the shirt using a marker to indicate this approximate measurement. Measure the distance between the markings and add one inch to that measurement. Make a note of it on both sides and put it somewhere safe.
Can a tailor tighten sleeves?
No. 1. Sleeves can be made narrower, longer, or shorter by cutting them. Alternatively, if your sleeve buttons are not functioning properly, a tailor can adjust the top or bottom button (while retaining the ornamental stitching) to compensate for bigger changes in sleeve length.
